오늘날 여행지나 캠프지에서나 가끔 사용하는 물물교환은 우리의 과거 인류조상들이 오랜기간 사용해 온 경제행위였다.
지금 경제위기,전쟁 등 어떤 것이 터질지 모를 위험한 시기에 즈음하여, 장기재난상황이나 화폐경제시스템에 문제가 발생할 경우를 대비하여 물건과 물건을 바꾸는 기술을 체득하고 나만의 준비를 해 둘 필요가 있지 않을까 싶다.
화폐가 그 교환가치를 잃어버릴 수 있는 상황들...
- 자연재앙 ( 태양흑점 폭발, 거대한 지진 등.. ) --- 돈 & 금은 아무 가치가 없다.
- 정부의 파산으로 인한 하이퍼인플레
- 국제간 무역시스템 붕괴
아무런 수입원이 없는 자에게는, 그들이 가진 기술이나 노동력이 생계수단이며 상품과 서비스의 교환품이다.
그것이 어떤 분야든 간에 남보다 더 많이 깊이 알고 있다면 그 지식과 기술,정보가 훌륭한 교환가치가 된다.
특별한 기술이나 재능이 없는 사람들은 아래 품목들을 비축해 놓기 바란다.

의료 위생용품
건강관리,의약품은 돈의 가치가 퇴색하게 되면, 물과 식량 다음으로 우대받는 물품이 될 것이다.
만약 귀하가 의료관련 지식이나 훈련을 받지 않았고 주변에 그런 계통의 지인이 없다면 매우 어려운 상황에 직면할 수도 있다.
의료품을 비축해놓으면, 단지 대비품으로서 뿐만 아니라, 교환품으로도 매우 인기있는 품목이 될 것이다.
물론 가장 중요한 것은 제한된 물품만으로 상처와 질병,위생에 대처할 수 있는 지식과 경험을 갖는 것이 훨씬 중요하지만, 만약 그런 지식이 없더라도 의약품 자체가 물물교환시장에서 매우 우대를 받게 될 것이다.

현재인들은, 성냥이나 라이터 없이 불을 피울 줄 모르는 사람이 대다수일 것이다.
만약 전기가 끊기고 세상이 암흑천지가 되고, 지폐는 오직 불쏘시개의 용도 밖에 없는 상황에서, 만약 연료를 가지고 있다면 아주 우대받는 물물교환 품목이 될 것이다.

일단, 물과 식량 과 같이 1차적인 욕구가 해결된 뒤에는 스스로를 방어하고 소유물품을 약탈과 도난으로부터 보호할 수 있는 수단에 대한 요구가 생길 것이다.
무기는 자신을 방어하는 데 뿐만 아니라, 자신감을 상승시키고, 사냥 등에도 사용할 수 있다.

아무리 좋은 교환품목을 가지고 있다 하더라도, 거래를 할 때는 조심해야 한다.
수상쩍거나 위험한 사람과 거래해야 하거나 사기를 당하거나 강도를 당할 수도 있다.
따라서 믿을만한 사람과 거래해야 한다.
의심스러운 사람들과 거래하지 말 것.
If you have doubts about the person you are about to trade with, then don’t do it. Don’t sell something that might become a danger for you later, like a weapon. Try to trade with people you know and trust. There are some behavior patterns that can help you find out if someone is trustworthy or not:
- They always ask about other items that have nothing to do with their main choice.
- They look around them and at everything else you have, besides what they selected. Their first point of interest should be the item they chose in the first place.
- They ask about your other goods and try to get into detail. How much food you have, do you have a big family, are you isolated, etc.
- They don’t bargain too much as they want to give you a feeling of security. In bartering everything is about bargaining. Someone who goes for the first price is not there for bartering.
- They are never alone. They have a friend with them in case things turn ugly. Sometimes their backup is not in plain sight and you notice him when it’s too late.
거래하기 전에 시장상황을 파악할 것
A good prepper learns from experience otherwise your risk of trading a good that is much more valuable than what you receive in return. Always consider what you want to get from the trade and don’t go home without it. Don’t settle for less unless you desperately need that item. Make sure the barter items you are trading for are in working condition before you walk away. Never brag about the stockpiles you have as it will make others charge you more than it’s worth for the items you want.
언제나 주의깊게 살피고 조심할 것
Desperate times create desperate people and the last thing you want is for someone to take off with all your supplies. Try to barter in places like markets or gatherings where people know each other and everything is out in the open. Arm yourself and be on the lookout for stalkers when you go back home. If you allow someone to enter your home and barter, always have someone to back you up, thus reducing the risk of being robbed. Most importantly if you barter at home, the transaction should take place away from your supplies and the supplies should be out of sight and locked up. You should also have yourhome protected against raiders and home invaders. Keep a detailed inventory and update it after each transaction so that you notice when something “goes missing”. Bring to the market and show off only the items you want to trade, nobody needs to know how prepared you are and what you own.
The risks associated with bartering can be reduced if you are vigilant and keep a close eye on your supplies.
